A police officer occasionally parked his cruiser in residential areas to watch for speeders. One morning he was staked out in a driveway when he saw a large dog trot up to his car.

The dog stopped and sat just out of arm's reach. No matter how hard the police officer tried to coax him to come for a pat on the head, the dog refused to budge.

After a while the police officer decided to move to another location. When he pulled out of the driveway and looked back he learned the reason for the dog's stubbornness.

The dog quickly picked up the newspaper the patrol car had been parked on and dutifully ran back to his master's house.

How faithful are you to your heavenly master?

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
